FRIENDS OF EDENDALE

Hello!  We are Friends of Edendale, an enthusiastic bunch of mums, dads, caregivers and whånau whose overall goal is to support the school through fundraising for those extraordinary resources that the students and school may not otherwise be able to enjoy.

As members of Friends of Edendale, we get great satisfaction from contributing towards a strong school community.

HOW YOU CAN SUPPORT US

Many hands make light work, it's fun to get involved, and here are ways you can help:

  • Attend our monthly meeting to get insight to all behind the scene action. Meetings are held every third Thursday during term time - see dates below.

  • Volunteer for various events that we organise throughout the year – Bake Sales, Disco Nights, Picnics, Colour Runs, and other exciting events.

  • Donate a service or product from your business/organisation – we are always looking for products/services to include in our raffles, giveaway hampers, goodie bags, auctions. So if you have something to donate, please email us.

  • Support our events by bringing the whole whanau and buying tickets, yummy food and snacks and to have fun with other parents and children.

  • Offer your expertise and suggestions on different ways we can operate and fundraise for the school.

2022 FUNDRAISING EVENTS

Covid has posed a challenge once again this year for all of us and we are limited with what we can do with our initiatives to support the school. This year we will aim to take a lot of our initiatives for fundraising online. The details for which will be communicated via newsletters, website, handouts, email, etc. Once we have received a green flag from the school and MoE, we will be back with fun and exciting events for all.

Some of the tentative events that have been planned for the year are:

  • Colour Run: A fun run followed by the throwing of powdered colour, based on the Holi Festival.  We ran this event for the first time in 2016 and due to its popularity, it is held every year

  • Disco Night: this is one of the highlights of the year for the kids! We split the disco into two groups – Years 0-3 and Years 4-6. There's pizza, bake stall, drinks, ice blocks, chips for sale along with fun activities like face painting and tattoos.  The kids dance away to a DJ, it’s a fantastic night for all.

  • Beats By Bingo: This event is for adults only, and is our biggest fundraiser for the year! We will keep you posted once the timings have been finalised. However, if you have something fancy to donate for the raffle or the giveaways for the evening, we would love to hear from you.

  • Cards and Calendars: This is an opportunity to give all the children a platform to showcase their creativity and share it with their grandparents, or friends and families overseas, making it a fabulous gift for the whanau. Parents can choose the beautiful artwork that they would like to be transformed into delightful greeting cards, calendars, diaries, mouse pads or sketch pads. Once again watch out for more details.

  • Bake sales (throughout the year): Our bake sales are legendary! Come and support the school by buying delicious treats!  Two classes join up to host each bake sale, so stay tuned for when your child's class gets a turn. This is their opportunity to shine in the kitchen, and polish their sales and customer service skills for a great cause.
