Hello!  We are Friends of Edendale, an enthusiastic bunch of mums and dads whose overall goal is to support the school through fundraising for those extraordinary resources that the students and school may not otherwise be able to enjoy.

As members of Friends of Edendale, we get great satisfaction from contributing towards a strong school community.

How you can support us

Many hands make light work, it's fun to get involved, and here are ways you can help too:

  • Attend our monthly meeting (third Thursday during term time - see dates below).

  • Volunteer - donate 2 hrs of your time (contact us if you're keen to help at events).

  • Donate a service or product from your business/organisation.

  • Come to our events e.g. help out on the day at our events; buy tickets and food we sell.

  • Offer your expertise.

2021 fundraising events

  • Colour Run

A fun run followed by the throwing of powdered colour, based on the Holi Festival.  We ran this event for the first time in 2016 and due to its popularity, we hold it every year in March!

  • Disco

This is one of the highlights of the year for the kids! 2017 was the first year we held this event in winter, we had a gorgeous Winter Wonderland theme, and in 2018 the Stars theme tied in with Matariki and saw some very imaginative and sparkly costumes. 2019's theme was Somewhere over the Rainbow and in 2021 we had an At the Movie theme! We split the disco into age groups – Years 0-3 and Years 4-6. There's pizza, bake stall, drinks, ice blocks, chips for sale.. There's also face painting and tattoos on offer.  As well as dancing the night away to a DJ, it’s a fantastic night for all.

  • Beats By Bingo

This event (for adults only, so leave the kids at home) is our biggest fundraiser for the year!  This year we are trying something new - Beats By Bingo.  It will be held on 20th August 2021. Tickets go on sale in early term 3

  • Cards and Calendars (November)

All children create a beautiful artwork during term 3 with Kusam, our resident art teacher. This artwork gets transformed into delightful greeting cards, calendars, diaries, mouse pads or sketch pads. Parents order online in Term 4. These make fabulous gifts for the grandparents, or friends and families overseas.

  • Bake sales (throughout the year)

Our bake sales are legendary! Come and support the school by buying delicious treats!  Two classes join up to host each bake sale, so stay tuned for when your child's class gets a turn. This is their opportunity to shine in the kitchen, and polish their sales and customer service skills for a great cause.

We meet every third Thursday of the month during term time. Meetings generally last for an hour.

Come to a meeting and see what it’s all about!  If you have any questions please email us at pta@edendale.school.nz.
